Background

When most Connecticut residents were asked about their perception of UConn, their immediate response would be “basketball.” In fact, when we asked Connecticut residents where they thought UConn ranked as a public research institution, most estimated in the 90s out of 650 public universities, while in fact it was ranked number 19 by US News and World Report.

Solution

The solution involved uniting a diverse and complex system of brand managers within UConn departments, named schools, institutes, health centers and associations with a common theme -Unleash. The Unleash Campaign is geared to build awareness of the limitless possibilities for undergrad and grad students, faculty, and health professionals at UConn. The campaign’s launch ads and video highlighted new faculty members with significant research accomplishments, which in turn inspired faculty/researchers throughout the world to join the UConn team.

Results

The campaign motivated a record number of prestigious faculty members from around the globe to come to the University.
